Melissa Lyans, viola

Melissa Lyans, a member of the UCD Symphony since 1999/00, has played in university and community orchestras in Wisconsin, Texas, New Mexico, Chicago, London, and Santa Barbara. After earning the M.Ed. in Child Development from the Erikson Institute in Chicago, she lived in London from 1992-98 with her itinerant physicist husband and three children. There she was trained in the Kodály-based Colourstrings violin method and taught 3- to 7-year-olds at the Blackheath Conservatoire of Music.
