Herman Phaff principal cello

Anne-Marie Noble comes from a musical family and has always loved playing music. Her mom taught her basic piano when she was young, and she picked up flute and eventually French Horn in the school band. Her real love for music grew at age 11, when she was given a free cello (which needed a few repairs). She studied cello with Cory Antipa in Santa Rosa for 9 years and also participated in the Santa Rosa Children's Chorus, the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, as well as the Young People's Chamber Orchestra, a conductorless string ensemble directed by Linda Ghidossi-DeLuca. She is a graduate of Biola University in La Mirada, CA (2005), where she studied cello with Marlin Owen and received a BA in Music and a BS in Biology. She has toured with the Biola Symphony Orchestra in Europe and also in China with a smaller string ensemble. At Biola, she had the immense honor to participate in multiple chamber music master classes with Menahem Pressler, the distinguished founder of the Beaux Arts Trio. Anne-Marie has also had the honor of playing Yo-Yo Ma's cello! She currently has the privilege of working for Genentech as a bioprocess technician in the production of cancer treatment drugs. She has been a resident of Davis, CA since 2005 and is excited to be a first-year member of the UCDSO!
