Kimberlee Uwate, viola
Jocelyn Morris principal viola

Kimberlee Uwate began her instrumental studies at age five with piano in her hometown of Monterey, California.  At ten, she took up the violin but soon discovered the viola, realizing that playing harmony can be more interesting than playing melody and that squeaky e-strings are no match to resonant c-strings.  Currently in her fourth and last year at UC Davis, she studies under Ellen Ruth Rose and sits co-principal viola of the UCD Symphony Orchestra.

When not playing music, Kimberlee can be found studying biology, playing water sports, or spending time with the otters at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Her viola’s name is Schroeder Etawu, and her bow’s name is Linus.
